I saw a coworker take a $20 bill from the break room floor and keep it

It happened on Tuesday morning around 10 AM, and he just slipped it into his pocket without saying anything. I mean, I get that it's just cash and nobody was around, but idk, it felt wrong and I've been thinking about it all week. What would you have done in that spot, like, would you have said something or just let it go?

I'd probably ask if anyone lost money in the break room. That way you're not accusing anyone directly.

Man, this stuff happens all the time, doesn't it? Like @robins83 said, asking around is the decent move, and it shows how small choices build your character. I see this bigger pattern where people just do the easy thing instead of the right thing, like keeping a lost phone or not returning extra change. It's why you can't trust anyone anymore, lol. That guilty feeling you have all week is your gut telling you that guy's actions were off.

Wait, he kept the money for a whole week feeling guilty and still didn't say anything? That's wild to me. That's not just a quick bad choice, that's a full week of knowing you did the wrong thing and sitting with it. At that point, returning it is way harder because you have to admit you kept it. It really does show how one small slip can snowball.
