Used to ignore expiration dates on eggs until I got sick after Sunday brunch

I always thought the sell-by date was just a suggestion, but last month I cracked open eggs that were three weeks past it and ended up with food poisoning that ruined my whole weekend. My roommate had been telling me for ages to do the float test but I never listened. Anyone else just blindly trust their eggs until something bad happens?

What made you finally take action after ignoring it so long?

Isn't it funny how we ignore little warnings until they bite us in the butt?

Man, you hit the nail on the head @lewis.terry. It's like how I let my truck's check engine light blink for two weeks before it died on me in rush hour traffic. We all know that little voice in our head telling us to fix something, but we push it off until it hurts. Then we sit there kicking ourselves for not listening sooner. It's a hard lesson, but one we never seem to learn.
