Just found out how many people live in Everett now

I was looking at some city data online yesterday and saw the 2023 population estimate. It's over 111,000 people now... I guess I just still think of it as a smaller town. That's a big jump from the 110,000 or so I remember from a few years back. Makes you wonder where everyone's moving in from. Has anyone else noticed it feeling more crowded lately?

That 1,000 person increase is basically just normal growth, not some huge boom. The traffic on Evergreen Way feels the same as it did five years ago to me. Most of those new people are probably just families having kids, not outsiders moving in.

Yeah, and that normal growth adds up over time without us really noticing. We're not building new roads or schools much faster, so the squeeze happens slowly. It just means the same traffic is split between more people doing the same things.

Exactly. It's the slow creep that gets you. My kid's class sizes have inched up every year since kindergarten. Same building, more kids.
