Remember when the Everett Mall was the only real shopping spot?
I used to drive from Mukilteo just to hit the Everett Mall for everything, clothes, shoes, even groceries at the old Safeway. It was packed every weekend. Then they built that big shopping center up by I-5 with Target and all the other stores. I gave the mall a shot for a few more months out of habit, but the selection kept getting worse and the place felt empty. Switched to doing my main shopping up at the new center about a year ago and it's just easier. Parking is simpler, I can get everything in one trip, and the stores actually have what I need. The mall feels like a ghost town now compared to how it was. Anyone else make that switch and notice how much time it saves?

The Safeway at the Everett Mall closed over two years ago. That was the final straw for my weekly trip. It just became a building you drive past.

Was it the new shopping center that really did it, or did the mall start going downhill before that? I remember the food court losing its good spots one by one, replaced with those temporary kiosks selling phone cases. You'd walk past three empty storefronts just to get to a department store that felt like it hadn't gotten new stock since 2010. It stopped being a place you'd go to browse and just became a chore.

Yeah it's like that everywhere now lol. Places stop being fun and just feel like a task you have to get through. Even going out for coffee feels like a whole thing instead of just relaxing.
