Showerthought: The 'Everett' pronunciation debate is actually a north vs south Everett thing
I keep hearing people from Casino Road say 'Ev-er-ett' with three clear syllables, but folks around Grand Avenue Park say 'Ev-rett' like it's two. Which one is actually right, or does it just show what part of town you're from?

Wait, people actually say it with two syllables? That sounds completely wrong to my ears.

Seriously? Two syllables is the only way that makes sense. Think about how we say "fire" or "tire". It's the same thing. Saying it with one syllable just sounds lazy and clipped to me, like you're not finishing the word. Everyone I know says it with two.

So you're a one syllable person? Do you also say "far" for fire and "tar" for tire? I've always heard it as two distinct sounds, like "fi-yer". Makes me wonder if it's a regional thing.
