TIL the Everett library's tool loan program is actually pretty solid
I always figured it was just a gimmick, but my pressure washer pump died last week and I needed a socket set to fix it. A guy at the hardware store on Colby told me to just go to the library. They had the exact set, let me borrow it for free for 7 days, and it worked perfectly. No fees, no hassle. Anyone else tried this and know what other tools they have?

My buddy needed to fix a wobbly ceiling fan and didn't have a ladder tall enough for his place. He was about to rent one, but someone mentioned the library. They had a basic six-foot step ladder he could take home for a week. He got the fan fixed and saved himself the rental fee. Makes you wonder what else they have tucked away back there.

No kidding, I had the same thought about it being a gimmick. After reading @rowan969's post about the ladder, I actually went down and checked their online catalog. They have way more than I expected, like drain snakes and even a basic tile saw. My own tool bag is pretty sad, so this feels like a public service for people like me who own one hammer and a lot of hope. It's a legit program that saves a ton of money on a one-off job.
