Used to fight morning traffic on I-5 to get to my desk job downtown
Switched to starting my shift at 6am last winter and now I breeze through Everett in 15 minutes flat. Anyone else find a weird schedule that actually works better around here?

Oh boy, you guys are missing something important here. I live over in Lake Stevens and tried the early shift for a while. What nobody mentions is how the road conditions change with those early hours. At 5am in the winter, you're dealing with black ice on the overpasses near the trestle that nobody talks about. Plus, the deer are way more active around dawn near the Snohomish river crossings. I had a close call with a doe near the 84th Street exit that shook me up pretty good. So it's not just about traffic, it's about what else is out there when the sun isn't up.

Breeze through Everett in 15 minutes flat" sounds like a dream. I switched to a 5am start for my freelance gigs and now I miss all the chaos around 7am on I-5. It's wild how just a couple hours difference makes the whole drive totally painless.

Well, @dakotab93, that 15 minutes is a real thing if you hit it just right, but you might be forgetting the occasional train or stalled semi that still kills it. I've done that 5am start before and yeah, it's great until the random wreck at Marine View Drive backs everything up anyway. Traffic in Everett is less about the time and more about luck, honestly.
