I finally got why my neighbor's kid was so quiet on his walk to school
Honestly, I was loading my van for a job last week and saw him stop at the same spot every morning, just staring at a crack in the sidewalk. Tbh, I asked him about it yesterday and he said, 'I'm watching the ants build their city.' Ngl, it hit me that I rush past a hundred tiny worlds every single day without even looking. Has anyone else had a kid point out something simple that made you slow down?

Yeah, that reminds me of a thing I read about how kids notice way more small stuff because they're closer to the ground, literally. It said their eye level is just right for spotting bugs and cracks and things we step over. Makes you wonder what we're missing when we're always in a hurry. What was the last little thing you stopped to look at?

That bit about eye level is so true. I was walking my dog yesterday and he kept stopping to sniff this one patch of moss on a curb. Made me crouch down and it was like a whole tiny forest up close.

You ever get so focused on your phone you almost step on a snail? Asking for a friend, lmao.

Wait, is that why kids take forever to walk anywhere? My niece does the same thing, just stops to stare at a line of ants crossing the sidewalk. I mean, I used to get so annoyed trying to get her to school on time. But now I kind of wonder if she's seeing something I'm totally missing. Maybe we could all learn a thing or two from just stopping and looking down once in a while.
