My car's odometer hit 222,222 miles this morning on my commute.

It made me think about all the ordinary trips to work, the grocery store, and my kid's soccer games that added up to that. Has anyone else had a random number stop them in their tracks like that?

Ever notice how the most boring numbers can feel like a little win? I get the same feeling when my gas tank hits exactly half full, like the universe gave me a tiny high five. It's weird how our brains latch onto those neat little patterns.

Honestly I find that stuff kind of depressing. My microwave hit 0:00 the other day and it just felt empty, like time was up. Seeing a half tank just reminds me I have to fill it again soon, and that odometer number only means my car is getting older. It feels less like a high five and more like the universe pointing out everything runs out.

My old car's odometer hit 123456 miles last month and I took a picture. It's just satisfying to catch those clean numbers, like a free bit of order in a messy day. Our brains are weird for liking that stuff.
