My kid said my 'helping' was just me taking over the project

They pointed out I was grabbing the glue and cutting the cardboard without asking, which made them feel left out. Now I just sit with my hands in my lap and ask 'what's the next step?' and it's way more fun for both of us. Anyone else get called out on their 'helpful' habits?

So what made you finally hear them?

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty small thing to get worked up about.

Sometimes kids need direct guidance to learn properly. Taking over a bit ensures the project actually gets finished and done right. Your new hands-off method might just be teaching them to be lazy.
