Found a $20 bill on a park bench last Tuesday, then saw a homeless guy watching me

I was walking through Riverside Park after my shift and spotted a crumpled $20 bill tucked under the bench slat. The guy was sitting about 30 feet away on the grass, definitely saw me pick it up, but he didn't say anything. Do you take the money since nobody claimed it out loud, or do you walk over and offer it to someone who might need it more than you think?

Bro honestly I would've taken the $20 and then seen the homeless ghost watching me and panicked lol. Like now you're just holding crumpled cash with a side of existential guilt. Next time just do a dramatic fake drop and pretend you found it in front of him so he feels like he got a lucky score. Or just sprint away screaming "GOD BLESS." Either way you're winning lmao.

Wait, you ever had a friend try that fake drop move but mess it up royally? My buddy Mark once tried to "find" a $10 bill for this guy outside a 7-Eleven, but he fumbled it so bad the wind took it straight into a storm drain. The guy just stared at him, and Mark ended up pulling out his own wallet and giving him a 20 anyway. @davis.noah your sprint-and-shout method might actually be cleaner. At least you commit to the bit instead of watching your decoy cash vanish into a sewer.

Yeah the "side of existential guilt" part hits hard. I did something similar once. Gave a guy a five at the gas station. He said "God bless you" all quiet. Then I got back in my car and realized my kid's snack money was gone. The guy walked off. I just sat there like... well now I'm the homeless ghost in my own story. Maybe the real curse is knowing you could've just walked past. But you didn't. And now you're holding the bag. Literally.
