Found a wallet with $80 cash in the grocery store parking lot last Tuesday.

I turned it in at the customer service desk, but part of me wondered if I should have just taken the cash and left the wallet, since the owner probably wouldn't get the money back anyway, so what would you have done?

Notice how many people assume the worst outcome before it even happens. You did the right thing turning it in, and maybe the owner actually gets everything back. Honestly, that small bit of faith in people is what keeps things from falling apart.

Reminds me of the time I found a phone on a bus seat. Charged it up at home and called the last number, turned out to be some kid's mom. She was so relieved.
