My partner and I argued over a $200 coffee maker for three days straight

We were setting up our monthly budget and had $300 left for a 'fun' purchase. I wanted to put it toward a weekend trip, but he was set on this fancy coffee machine. We picked the coffee maker after he promised to make me a latte every morning. It broke after two months, and now we're stuck with bad coffee and no trip. Has anyone else had a household gadget totally wreck a budget plan?

Honestly used to feel the same way about small stuff like that. Then I missed my best friend's birthday weekend for work and it really hurt our friendship. Some things matter more than they seem.
