Overheard a neighbor mention how she tracks every coffee shop stop with her kids
She said she spends around $45 a week on lattes and pastries for her three kids. I never thought about it that way, but adding that up over a year is almost $2,400. Anyone else have a small habit that quietly eats into your monthly budget?

Man I just read this article that said the average American spends like $1,100 a year on coffee out. That blew my mind. But honestly the pastry part is where it gets you too because a muffin or croissant is like $4 each and kids never finish them. I noticed my own "small" habit is buying sparkling water at the gas station every time I fill up. It's only $2 but I go twice a week so that's over $200 a year just for fizzy water. Have you ever sat down and actually calculated all the little stuff like that?

Wait, is it really that bad though? I mean yeah a couple bucks here and there adds up but that's not really the problem if you ask me. People act like spending money on little treats is some kind of failure. Life's short man. If a red bull helps you get through the day then that's worth something too.
I guess what I'm saying is the math only matters if you're actually going broke from it. Most people aren't. They just feel guilty about buying themselves something small. Plus gas station prices are always higher but you're paying for convenience and that has value too.
But hey if you're cutting back to save for something big then sure add it up. Otherwise maybe just let yourself enjoy the little stuff without turning it into a spreadsheet.
