Vent: Our monthly grocery bill hit $1,200 and it felt like a gut punch
We're a family of four in a mid-sized city, and I just sat down to review our spending from the past three months. Seeing that average number, which is up almost 40% from two years ago, made me realize our old budget is completely broken. What specific changes have you made to your food budget that actually stuck?

Switched to store brands and it saved us hundreds.

That store brand switch is a good one! Honestly, the biggest thing for us was getting real about leftovers. We used to cook a big meal and then let half of it go bad in the fridge. Now I plan one "clean out the fridge" night a week where we eat all the bits and pieces. It sounds small, but it cut our waste and our bill down a lot.
