Just realized the value of a proper clinch block after a tough Tuesday with a draft horse

The old one slipped and I spent 20 minutes wrestling a hot shoe, but switching to a new 4-inch block from my truck changed everything. Anyone else have a simple tool that saves the day when a big animal gets fidgety?

Man, that sounds rough. @vera_johnson9 is right about the right gear making a huge difference. A solid block is a lifesaver when things get hot and heavy.

What about a good rope halter for groundwork? I had a young mule that would just lean on a regular one, but switching to a flat braid rope halter gave me so much more feel. It's not magic, but it made those teaching moments way less of a fight for both of us. That kind of small change can really turn a bad day around.

Watched my buddy struggle for weeks with a pushy yearling colt in a basic nylon halter. He swapped to a thin, knotted rope one and the change was instant, like the colt finally understood the pressure. Those little bumps from the knots gave clearer signals without needing to pull hard.
