Showerthought: My fast rasp habit made hoof edges rough
I stopped using the coarse file for final touches. Now a smoother pass leaves a clean edge, clients notice the difference right away.

Seriously, doubt clients care that much about file smoothness.

Whoa, gotta hard disagree on that one. Clients might not SAY the word "smoothness," but they absolutely feel it. A rough edge catches on their clothes or their own skin, and then they think the job was bad. It's like that old haircut story, a snag is a snag and they notice. That final smooth finish is what makes it feel professional and done right.

Funny story, I once thought a quicker file pass was saving time until a regular pointed out the snags on her sweater. Turns out I was basically giving hooves a bad haircut. Had to eat humble pie and slow down for the finer grit. Now I check edges like I'm looking for splinters in a toothpick.
