Warning about that new flexible hoof packing material

Tried it on a quarter crack for a barrel racer and it failed after just two rides, letting moisture in. Has anyone found a reliable alternative for high-movement cases?

Saw a post on a different forum where someone had good luck with that acrylic and fiberglass mesh combo for quarter cracks. They said the key was prepping the area super clean and using a heat gun to really set the layers. Might be worth a try for a high-movement horse.

Honestly the heat gun tip is huge, it really gets those layers to bond tight. Tbh I'd also add a good hoof wrap after to keep pressure on it while it cures.

Yeah the heat gun can work but you gotta be so careful... it's easy to overheat the area and damage the hoof wall. I've seen it make things worse when someone held it too close. A hair dryer on low is actually a lot safer for that step, still gets it warm enough to bond without the risk.
