Watched a guy at the county fair try to fix a loose shoe with a pair of pliers and a rock. It's not just about the nail.

My uncle once fixed a leaky garden hose with a pencil stub and electrical tape. It wasn't pretty, but it got him through the season. That kind of fix has its own special pride.

That's the kind of problem solving you only see in the wild. Saw a guy use a zip tie and a stick to hold his car's bumper on once. The commitment to just making it work is honestly impressive. It's never about having the right tool, it's about refusing to let the thing win.

Watched my neighbor fix his mailbox with a coat hanger and duct tape after a snowplow hit it. That kind of stubborn creativity really does feel like a small victory.

Remember seeing a guy at a campsite use a gum wrapper and a rock to fix a broken tent pole, @taylorshah. It was pouring rain and he just would not give up on that stupid tent. He spent like an hour on it and it actually held for the whole weekend. That same "make it work" energy is everywhere once you start looking for it. It's less about being smart and more about pure stubbornness against the world breaking your stuff. Honestly kind of respect it more than someone who just buys a new thing right away.
