My daughter asked why all her clothes have to be so loud

We were looking at her closet and she said 'Dad, I just want a plain green shirt that fits.' It made me think about how much kid's fashion is about bright patterns and characters, not just simple, good clothes. Anyone else designing for kids feel that push for quiet basics?

Designing for kids" is exactly the issue for a lot of us. The market is flooded with loud prints because that's what sells off the rack. Finding quiet basics often means hunting through specialty shops, which isn't realistic for every family.

Designing for kids" isn't really the issue for most parents.

Wasn't there a study a while back about how fast fashion brands design for the store shelf, not for real life? They make clothes that grab a kid's eye in two seconds, which is why everything is covered in glitter and characters. It leaves parents who just want a plain blue shirt out of luck.
