Serious question, has anyone else had a client completely scrap a design after three fittings?

Last week in Austin, a client for a custom wedding dress looked at the final toile, said 'it's just not me,' and walked out, leaving me with $800 in materials and a half-finished gown. I spent the next two days just staring at the mannequin, trying to figure out where the vision went wrong. How do you even start to price your time when a project implodes that close to the finish line?

That's the risk with creative work, isn't it? The final vision can get lost between the first sketch and the last stitch.

Lost" is a strong word though, right? Sometimes the changes make it better.

Totally, I read a whole article about that exact problem (it was pretty interesting, actually).
