Had one of those perfect days last Tuesday in Austin
I put up 200 feet of cedar privacy fence by myself in like 6 hours. That never happens for me. The ground was soft from the rain the day before so digging was easy. Every hole lined up perfect on the first try, no having to re-dig or adjust string lines. Even the gate I built swung true without any sag. I was done by 2pm and went home early. Anyone else ever get those days where everything just clicks?

My buddy tried doing the same thing last spring and it was a disaster. Every post hole hit a rock, string line snapped twice, and the gate sagged so bad you had to lift it to close it. Took him three weekends and ended up having to call his brother-in-law for help. He still brings it up whenever someone mentions fences... definitely not one of those click days for him.

My third post hole took THREE HOURS because I hit a root the size of my arm and had to dig around it with a garden trowel. Then I tried to save time by skipping the gravel base and the whole fence shifted six inches after the first heavy rain. By the time I was done I had a 45 foot fence that leaned like the Tower of Pisa and a gate that needed a shoulder check to close. I told my wife it was "character building" and she just laughed.

You ever think about how many "character building" moments we tell ourselves just to get through the day? @wyatt_hernandez14, I know a guy who spent a whole Saturday digging post holes only to realize he'd lined up the fence on the wrong property line. Had to pull it all out and start over, and he still won't talk about it at barbecues.
