Ngl, ignoring the brine level cost me two jars of pickles.
I thought it was fine to let it drop, but everything went moldy. Keep an eye on it, folks.

Did you notice the brine getting low before the mold hit, or was it a sudden thing? @jackson.faith is right about that seal being key.

Learn from your pickle tragedy. That brine is a protective seal for a good reason. Never let it drop below the veggies again.

Hang on, you had a whole pickle tragedy? Mold grew overnight? That is genuinely upsetting. I didn't even know brine could drop that fast. Now I'm scared to check my own jar in the fridge. Your warning about the protective seal is going to haunt me every time I want a snack.

Ever had a jar where the lid just doesn't seem to tighten right? That's usually the start of it. The brine evaporates slowly, and once it dips below the pickles, any little bit of air is an open door. My fix is to top it off with a bit of vinegar and water if I see it getting low, and I press down on the lid after closing to check the seal. It beats losing a whole jar to fuzz.
