My epic battle with the credit card dispute bot
I called to fix a tiny charge, but the robot kept saying 'I DIDN'T catch that.' After three tries, it transferred me to the WRONG department. Why do they make it so HARD to just talk to a person?

Those automated systems are trying to screen calls so real people don't get buried by simple questions. Isn't the real problem that companies just don't hire enough staff to handle the volume? My guess is @dakotab93's friend got stuck in a loop because the system couldn't understand the yelling, which just makes it worse. They're frustrating for sure, but they exist because it's cheaper than paying a thousand employees to answer the phone all day.

Got transferred to a fax line support queue once, just hung there in some weird limbo.
