Pro tip: I just realized I've been paying a $35 monthly fee for a bank account I opened in college 8 years ago.
It finally clicked when I saw the yearly total on my tax form and thought 'wait, that's more than my car insurance' lol, anyone else have a dumb fee they only noticed way too late?

Oof, that's brutal... I bet the bank loved your loyalty more than you did.

My old gym had a $20 "maintenance fee" that popped up every three months for two years after I canceled. It's like what violaramirez said, they bank on you not checking the small stuff. These companies design bills to have one big number you look at and a bunch of tiny lines you ignore. My cable bill had a "regional sports fee" that kept inching up from $5 to almost $12. You have to read every single line every time.

Honestly, that yearly total wake-up call is the worst. Tbh, I went through the same thing with a stupid credit monitoring service. They took like fifteen bucks a month for almost three years before I saw it on my bank statement. It's crazy how these things just fade into the background noise of all your other bills. You feel like such a fool when you finally catch it. They absolutely count on you being too busy or lazy to look close.
