Vent: My local bank branch has a 'financial advice' fortune cookie machine now
I went to the Wells Fargo on Main Street to deposit a check yesterday... and right next to the deposit slips is this little kiosk with a touchscreen. It says 'Get Your Free Financial Tip!' and you press a button. A plastic fortune cookie drops out with a little scroll inside. Mine said 'A penny saved is a penny earned'... and it charged the bank $1.50 on my statement for 'service fee'. I had to go back in and get it reversed. Who approved a $1.50 fortune cookie machine in a bank lobby? Has any other branch near you gotten this weird?

Did they at least use real cookies?

I mean, the "real cookies" thing is missing the point for me. It's more about the overall vibe being off, you know? The fake ones just made it feel cheap.

Yeah, totally get what you mean about the vibe. It's not just one thing, it's all the little details adding up to feel kinda tacky. The fake cookies are just the most obvious sign of cutting corners. Makes the whole event feel less special, like they didn't care enough to get the small stuff right. You want that warm, genuine feeling, and plastic props just kill it.

Ugh, exactly. It's all the little things that make it feel cheap. Fiona_west21 asking about real cookies really nailed the problem.
