Appreciation post: Heard a homeowner in Boise say they'd never pay for a moisture barrier again

They argued a good underlayment is enough, but I've seen too many cupped floors from slab moisture. What's your take on skipping the barrier to save a client a few hundred bucks?

Ever seen a warranty claim get denied over a skipped barrier?

Wait, you mean people actually skip putting in the barrier? That's wild to me. I saw a claim get tossed because someone used duct tape instead of the proper flashing tape around a window. The whole unit leaked and they said it was an install error, not a product flaw.

Ever seen a warranty claim get denied over a skipped barrier?" Honestly, not really. Most of the time, if the product fails, it fails. The company has to prove you caused the problem by skipping a step, and that's pretty hard for them to do. They usually just fix it to avoid bad press and keep customers happy. I've seen way more claims go through than get denied over small install details.
