Saw a wild floor transition at a museum in Cincinnati

It was this old library they turned into a cafe, and they used a herringbone wood border to frame a poured concrete center. The installer must have spent a WEEK on that scribe work. Has anyone else done a border that detailed on a commercial job?

My last border attempt looked like a toddler with a crayon drew it. That kind of precision is a whole different trade. I'd have to charge by the tear, not the hour.

Wow, a whole week for a floor? Was the Pope coming to visit?

Tell you what, I'd probably spend two weeks on it and still mess up a corner. That's some next level patience and skill. I get what @the_thea is saying about the time, but man, in a place like that, the floor is a main feature. It's not just a floor anymore, it's part of the whole look of the room. You do it right once and it lasts for decades, so maybe a week is worth it.

Honestly, sounds like the kind of job where you just accept your fate and live in the building for a month. Tbh, I'd need a therapist on standby after all that scribing.
