Warning: Laminate planks cupped after I rushed the underlayment on a DIY job.

I put down a floating floor in my living room and skimped on taping the foam underlayment seams. Now there's visible dipping along the joints when you walk across it. What's the best tape you all use to secure underlayment without bubbles?

Nah, I've seen this happen before and it's pretty obvious once you know what to look for. The cupping creates a slight bounce or dip at the seams, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic. For taping, I always use the heavy-duty stuff from the hardware store, the one with the grid pattern. It lays flat and doesn't peel up like cheaper tape can.

Actually the grid pattern tape can be a problem on floors. It's made for drywall, so the adhesive is too strong for wood. It can pull up the finish when you remove it. I use the blue painter's tape for floors because it holds but comes off clean.

Are you sure it's that obvious? Most people won't notice.

Wait, you think most people just walk on messed-up floors?
