Pro tip: I was using way too much water in my floral foam for years
A new hire in my shop pointed out my arrangements were leaking all over the tables, and I realized I was basically drowning the foam. How do you guys judge the right amount of water for a fresh block?

The sink soak method is a classic, but it's still a guess. I weigh my dry block first. After it's fully soaked, I weigh it again. The difference is exactly how much water it holds. I write that number on the block with a marker. Now I know to only pour that much water next time. No more guessing, and no more leaks.

I've been doing the sink soak method for years like Taylor mentioned, and it's totally fine for basic stuff, but I always end up squeezing out extra water to stop leaks anyway. I never thought to just measure the exact amount the foam can hold and then only pour that much. It's so simple but I've been overthinking this for way too long. I feel like a moron now for all those drippy wedding centerpieces I've delivered. Definitely stealing this tip, thanks for sharing.
