Showerthought: I realized my 'fresh' flower buckets were actually breeding bacteria after a client in Phoenix pointed out a weird slime on her stems.

I was using the same bleach solution for a month, thinking a quick rinse was enough, but a test strip showed the pH was totally off and basically useless. Has anyone else found a better way to keep buckets actually clean without going through a gallon of bleach a week?

That Phoenix heat probably accelerates everything. It's a good reminder that our maintenance routines often fail silently until something breaks. I've started marking my cleaning solution bottles with the date I mixed them.

Fail silently" sounds a bit dramatic for some cleaning solution.

What's the test strip brand you used?

Buddy of mine used some off-brand test strips he grabbed on Amazon. He thought he was saving a few bucks, you know how it goes. Well, he mixed up a batch of cleaning solution on a Tuesday and used those strips to check it. The strips said everything was fine, pH was good, all that. Long story short, his entire batch of solution was basically useless, and he went through a whole day of cleaning before he figured it out. His floors turned out all streaky and weird. He ended up tossing that whole bottle and buying the AquaChek strips from the hardware store like he should have in the first place. Now he's super careful about what he uses because trust me, fake strips will just lie to your face.
