Hot take: My old dream to tour with a band seems silly now

Spent all my free time practicing bass. Life got in the way, bills had to be paid. Honestly, I'm fine with how it turned out.

Ten years of bass practice and the only tour you're on is the commute to work. At least you're not starving in a sketchy van, lmao.

Man, that hits close to home. I've got a guitar gathering dust in the corner (bought it with big dreams, of course). Practicing for years without a real gig can feel like running in place. At least the commute has a good soundtrack, right?

Back in my garage band days, we called the commute our 'world tour'. It was the only time we had a captive audience, even if they were just other drivers. Now I realize those rehearsals were just for the car stereo.

Ever come close to booking an actual gig, or was it always just the idea of playing out that felt too big to make happen?
