I saw a stat about how many people wanted to be artists as kids
I was reading an old article about career surveys from the 90s. It said something like 65% of kids under ten said they wanted to be an artist or a musician when they grew up. I guess I was part of that huge group, drawing all the time. Now I just design logos for small businesses, which is fine, but it's not the same dream. Does anyone else remember having that specific, huge creative goal that just sort of faded?

Remember drawing those weird little creatures in the margins? Now I just make the creature for a local pet shop's logo. Guess @diana512 is right about the trade.

Honestly that's wild, you're actually getting paid to draw those little guys now? I used to fill my math homework with them, just weird blobs with too many eyes. Tbh I can't believe someone looked at those and said yes, this is our brand. It's cool it worked out like that though, making a real thing from those old doodles.

Maybe we all just liked the freedom of it, not the job title. The system trades that feeling for a paycheck.

Doesn't that just hit the nail on the head... I spent years chasing the title and the salary, but it just made me feel trapped. You give up so much of your own time and choices for that security. Now I wonder if the trade was ever worth it.
