Used to believe the first hire should just be a skilled worker. That founder probably said to find someone who fixes your biggest weakness. Makes a lot more sense now.

Read a blog post once about a founder who hired his opposite. He was all ideas, hired a process person. Their first year revenue doubled.

Honestly, I was so stuck on just hiring for the job I needed done. Like, I'm good at the product stuff, so I was only looking for another product person. But then my friend asked me who would handle all the customer questions I was ignoring. That hit hard. Now I look for what I'm bad at, not just what needs doing. It changed everything.
