Pro tip: I saved cash by going green with my product wraps
Okay, so I run this snack box thing and man, the plastic wrap waste was out of control. We switched to compostable bags and honestly, it made our brand look cooler and saved money too. But here's the kicker, finding suppliers that can handle bigger batches is a real headache. I've been searching online but keep hitting dead ends. How do you all deal with sourcing eco-friendly materials without breaking the bank?

Yeah that supplier search is the worst part honestly. @the_karen has a point about the face to face thing at smaller shows, but I found a middle ground. I started by joining a couple specific online groups for sustainable small businesses, not just broad searches. You get real names of companies from people who actually use them. Then you can target just one or two local trade events a year with those names in your pocket, instead of wasting time wandering aisles. It turns the whole thing from a shot in the dark into a real mission.

Oh man, the whole trade show thing @the_karen mentioned is so real. I went to one years back looking for a specific type of recycled paperboard and just got lost in a sea of plastic bubble wrap guys. Felt like a total waste of a day. Your idea of going in with a list is smart. It's like you're not just shopping, you're hunting for something specific. Makes you way less likely to get talked into some sample of a thing you'll never use.

Totally get the supplier hunt struggle. Online searches only go so far before you hit those same five companies. Have you tried hitting up packaging trade shows? The smaller regional ones can be gold for meeting niche suppliers who don't have a huge web presence but can do solid custom orders. You can actually feel the materials and talk price face to face, which cuts through so much back and forth email nonsense. What part of the country are you shipping from?

That "face to face" talk sounds ideal, but trade shows are a HUGE time and money sink. You can get the same deal making connections online if you're willing to put in the legwork.
