Watching my kid figure out a puzzle in the park yesterday made me think about my own goals

He spent an hour on that wooden map, and his quiet focus made me realize I haven't given myself that kind of patience with my own writing project in months. Anyone else have a small moment that suddenly clarified a bigger goal for them?

Stop comparing your messy adult goals to a kid's simple puzzle time, that's a weird way to beat yourself up.

You said he spent a full hour on that wooden map. My kid would have given up after five minutes and asked for a snack. That kind of focus is honestly wild to me. It really does show how we drop our own projects at the first sign of trouble. I’ve been putting off learning guitar for the same reason, no patience for the hard parts. Your post hit me right in the guilt.

Guess your kid's puzzle focus was more productive than my last hour on my phone.

What's so wrong with zoning out on your phone sometimes? It's a valid way to unwind and reset your brain after a long day. Not every minute has to be a lesson in productivity.
