Serious question, I miss the way glacial valleys looked before tourism boomed.
It's sad how much erosion has sped up from all the foot traffic, changing the rocks forever.

Milarodriguez has a point, rocks erode anyway.

Honestly, how much damage can foot traffic really do? Rocks wear down naturally, and trails have always been there.

Saw a doc where they used rock steps to redirect hikers, kind of like @piperbailey's log barriers. It really slows down the wear and tear.

Did you ever try volunteering with a trail restoration team? I spent a weekend with one in the Rockies, where we placed LOG barriers to keep people on the path. It really helped concentrate the damage and save the surrounding soil. Getting your hands dirty like that feels like you're actually fixing the problem.
