Seeing double license plates left me in a moral bind

Yesterday, I saw the same license plate on two different cars at the same spot. It felt like a real glitch, but now I'm stuck on whether to tell anyone or just let it be. What would you do if this happened to you?

Man, that reminds me of my old black sedan. Got stopped three times in one month for "taillight checks." Meanwhile, my buddy's bright red sports car, which he definitely speeds in, never gets a second look. Cops just see a dark shape and their hands go to the ticket book. It's wild.
