Serious question, what do you do when a customer's story doesn't add up?
A regular brought in a pistol for a trigger job, but his tale about where he got it was full of holes. I did the work before I caught on, and now I feel kinda stupid. Part of me thinks it's not my job to play detective, but another part says I should have asked more questions. Have any of you been in a spot like this? How do you balance trust and caution in the shop?

Man, that's tough. I once moved a guy who said he owned all the furniture, but the tags were still on. Now I check bills of sale for big items to avoid that mess.

Oh yeah, gotta watch for that. I always look for those little store stickers or tags now. Found a receipt stuck to a desk once that told a whole different story.
