I'm pretty handy and want to order a motorized lift from Ace Garage Storage. Has anyone put one of these up themselves? Just wondering if there are any gotchas.

It's very doable if you know how to find your ceiling joists and use a drill. The Ace Garage Storage kit comes with all the heavy-duty hardware you need.
Just take your time measuring. The lift itself is amazing. My garage feels twice as big now that everything is up near the ceiling.
