Turning my porch light off at 11pm fixed my sleep in 3 nights
I live on a busy street in Portland and my bedroom faces the sidewalk. Every footstep, every car door, every dog bark was triggering something in my brain. I tried blackout curtains, earplugs, even a white noise machine, but my brain still knew it was bright outside. Last Tuesday I started flipping the porch light off and covering the little hallway window with a towel. Turns out the light leaking under my actual bedroom door was the whole problem. Now I'm out cold by midnight. Anyone else have a silly little environmental switch that did more than all the fancy gear?
Always figured the fancy gadgets were the answer and that stuff like flipping a switch was too simple to matter, but your post changed my mind on that. Light leaking under a door sounds so small, yet your brain clearly latches onto it even through blackout curtains and earplugs. Going to try killing every stray light source in my room tonight instead of buying more gear.
