Can we talk about how staring out the window as a kid taught me more about being present than any app?

That line about staring out the window as a kid really hits home. I spent hours just watching the leaves on the big maple tree move in the wind. Trying to be "present" now feels like a chore I have to schedule, but back then it just happened without trying. You just got lost in it because there was nothing better to do. Funny how we pay for apps to teach us what we used to do for free.

My grandma's house had this big bay window. Like @moore.david said, you just got lost in it, so now I set a timer for five minutes and just look at the sky. Why pay for apps when you can do that?

Actually used to side with jordan_bell on this, thinking it was just kid boredom. But trying to schedule "mindfulness" now feels so forced, you know? Setting a timer to look at the sky is us trying to copy that old feeling (but with an alarm, which is kinda funny). Makes you realize the apps are just selling back what we lost when we got busy.

Setting a timer to look at the sky for five minutes though. Sounds like we're making a hobby out of what was just being bored as a kid. Maybe it wasn't that deep.
