My park walks became grocery trips thanks to a foraging podcast

I used to stroll through the park without a second thought about the plants underfoot. Then I stumbled upon 'The Wild City' podcast, which casually demystified urban foraging. The host breaks down how to spot things like edible wild garlic and berries in concrete jungles. One segment on proper cleaning techniques for city-grown greens was surprisingly thorough. Now I casually nibble on verified finds while my dog looks on, mildly concerned. It's a low-key way to feel connected to nature without leaving town. Give it a listen if you're tired of the same old walk.

Seriously, the safety angle is what grabs me. Those horror stories about misidentifying plants are no joke. Does the podcast host get into the really dangerous lookalikes, like hemlock versus wild carrot? I'd need to hear a brutally clear breakdown of poisonous doubles before I'd feel comfortable putting anything near my mouth.

Tried this once and proudly brought home what I thought was wild garlic. My cat wouldn't go near me for a week, so safe to say I need that podcast.

Grabbed a bunch of what looked like wild garlic last spring, totally convinced I'd hit the jackpot. Ended up with hands that reeked of bitter onion for days, and my dog wouldn't come within five feet of me. Tried washing with lemon juice, baking soda, the whole nine yards, nothing worked. Now I triple-check every leaf before touching anything green in the woods. That podcast sounds like a lifesaver, honestly.

Your cat's a better plant expert than you.
