Watching my son grow up next to my home desk has been wild
A few years back, I used to commute every day and barely see my kid awake. Now, with remote work, he's right there, doing homework or playing while I type away. Just yesterday, he asked me what I was doing on the computer when I took a break. I realized I'm not just working, I'm showing him what work looks like. That is a BIG deal for us. We even set up a little table for him next to mine so he can 'work' too. It's not always perfect, sometimes he needs attention when I'm busy, but it feels REAL. I miss the quiet of an office sometimes, but this is so much better. Remote work let me be part of his day in a way I never thought possible.

Wow, your kid’s probably more productive than me lmao

Yeah "more productive" is a wild comparison when kids don't have real jobs or bills to pay.

But isn't productivity about what you do with the time you have? A kid's job is school, and managing homework, projects, and after school activities on their own does build real discipline. It's just a different kind of responsibility.

Actually yeah I used to see it that way too. But watching my niece juggle school and sports made me realize how much real work that actually is.
