Overlooking torque specs on wedge clamps resulted in a shaky structure.

I tightened them by feel on a recent job, and several worked loose over a few days. Now I use a calibrated wrench for every connection to prevent that. What tools do you rely on for ensuring clamp security?

Does that ever happen with other types of fasteners too? I once put together a patio set without a torque wrench, and the chairs kept coming loose until I redid them all properly. It's a good reminder that the right tool isn't just for clamps.

Oh man, I learned that lesson stripping threads on my bike's derailleur bracket.

Just wait until you over-torque and strip the threads, fun fix.

My Trek bike's stripped threads were fixed with a helicoil, still holding strong after 500 miles!
