Watercolor practice has me silently critiquing the color gradients in every sunrise

I now see natural beauty as a frustratingly perfect painting I can't replicate.

Nature's out here doing effortless wet-on-wet techniques while I'm over here with paint dripping everywhere. It's downright rude how perfect those sunrise gradients are. I half expect to see a signature in the corner of the sky some morning. Makes my own attempts look like a child's finger painting session.

Remembering @milarodriguez's friend's peach soup disaster, my own pal attempted a coastal sunrise. He got so obsessed with the horizon line that he didn't notice his coffee blending into the wash, creating a muddy brown mess. Now he just nods at the sky like it's a superior artist he grudgingly respects.

Oh, my friend attempted a sunrise watercolor and it turned into a weird peach soup, honestly. She just stared at it and then at the sky, feeling personally attacked by the gradient.
