Picked up a cheap slow cooker from a discount store last month because my old one finally died. Set it on low for 8 hours with a pork shoulder like I always do, came back to meat that tasted like metal and had this weird gray film. Turns out the pot wasn't ceramic coated properly and it was leaching something. Lost 40 bucks and a 12 pound shoulder that cost me 25, not to mention the whole Sunday dinner for my crew. Anyone else get burned by a budget crockpot or is it worth spending the extra cash on a name brand?
