I finally figured out why my bread kept coming out dense
Been trying to bake sourdough for like 3 months now and every loaf was a brick. Finally realized last week I was cutting the bulk fermentation way too short because I was rushing before my shift at the diner. Turned out I needed to wait like 6 hours instead of 3 for it to double. Has anyone else accidentally been impatient with their dough?

Dense bread isn't exactly a life-altering crisis though, right? It's just bread.

Notice it's the same mindset where people settle for okay stuff way too often. Like with phones, coffee, even clothes - we just accept "fine" when better isn't that much harder to get. Life's too short for mediocre bread or anything else you can easily fix with a lil effort.

i mean i get what you're saying but dense bread isn't really the issue here, it's more about the mindset behind it. when you get a brick of bread it's usually because someone rushed the process or didn't care enough to fix the dough. that's a little different than just accepting a mediocre loaf, you know? like piper said, it's the same pattern of settling for okay when better is totally doable. plus dense bread can straight up ruin a sandwich, so idk i think it kinda is a small crisis in its own way lol
