Balancing water savings with safe veggies in my garden
I just learned gray water can have germs that harm edible plants. It's a hard choice between being green and eating clean.

Tbh, gray water is way over-hyped as dangerous. Valschmidt's buddy had a bad run, but that's on him for not checking his soap. Use eco stuff and let the water sit, and it's fine. Water waste is a bigger crisis than some dirt on your veggies. Plenty of gardeners do this without sick crops. Just gotta know what you're doing.

Yeah my buddy tried watering his lettuce with laundry runoff last summer, watched the leaves get all funky and spotted within a week. Really made him reconsider the whole system.

His lettuce probably thought it was in the spin cycle.

Always thought gray water was kinda harmless until I saw my neighbor's tomato plants turn weird. They used laundry water and everything got spotty, just like @valschmidt's buddy. @moore.david has a point about using eco soap, but even that can go wrong if you're not careful. Changed my mind real quick after that mess. Now I stick to rain barrels for the veggie patch.
