A neighbor's comment made me rethink my whole compost setup
Last month my neighbor saw me tossing citrus peels and said, 'You know those take forever and mess with the worms, right?' I had no idea. I looked it up and she was right, the acidity was slowing everything down. I switched to a separate bucket for citrus and started adding more browns like cardboard. My pile went from a soggy mess to actually breaking down in about 3 weeks. Has anyone else gotten useful corrections from random people mid-habit?

Ugh, the citrus thing got me too. My neighbor watched me dump a whole bag of orange peels and just shook his head. I felt like such a fool, but it honestly changed my whole game. Separating them out and shredding more cardboard fixed the smell and the flies overnight. It's wild how a random comment can be the best tip you ever get.
